When relatives/random people im forced to engage with start talking about “”gay people”” like some mysterious unknowable entity
This is one of the reasons I’m glad I brought Jake (my boyfriend) to my Brother’s wedding. Even if certain family members don’t want to deal with homosexuality, they had to face it and open their minds and think of me as a person and not just “some gay guy” or stereotyped idea. They know who I am as a person and they got to meet Jake and interact with him. Therefore, whatever preconceived notions that they had about gays had to be re-evaluated on the spot.
